Blighty assistant coach Tanner Robertson said his side’s ‘‘wasted opportunities’’ came back to haunt them.
‘‘We had the wind in the second term and didn’t take full advantage,’’ he said.
‘‘Our discipline in the third quarter cost us and we wasted our chances in front of goal in the last.
‘‘We have to give credit to Yarroweyah though, they’ve made a big improvement this year and were too good for us in the end.
‘‘The loss makes it tough for us to make finals. We need to beat Toc. this weekend but then also have to find wins against the likes of the Rovers, Waaia, Picola and Katamatite.’’
Blighty’s reserves are back on the winner’s list, coming away with a comfortable 51 point victory.
In tricky conditions Yarroweyah gave Blighty a strong contest until halftime, before the Redeyes’ leaders stood up to run away with the win.
Final score, Blighty 10.13 (73) to Yarroweyah 3.4 (22).
Better players for Blighty were Matt Barker, Brent Mitchell, Luke Hay, Jordan Amor, Jarrod Andrews and Daniel Kirchen.
