MORE than 60 community members attended the Mia Mia Flower Show on Saturday, October 27.
Representatives from both the Mitchell Shire and City of Greater Bendigo were in attendance, with the Mia Mia Hall volunteer catering team preparing a two-course lunch for participants.
Howard Nathan launched the new Mia Mia Community Plan and copies were distributed to all attendees.
In the Flower Prize category, the show saw its first ever draw, with Helen Bennett and Therese Ryan scoring 13 points each. The Pot Plant Prize was won by Janette Johnson with six points, with Marg Tattersal coming in second with three points. The Produce Prize was won by Claire Claydon with 16 points, second was Grant Hulls with 13 points.
Wendy Hulls, secretary of the Mia Mia Mechanics Institute, said a big change to the event this year worked well.
‘‘Traditionally we have had our Flower Show and Lunch on the Thursday prior to Cup Day, this year we decided to move it to a Saturday,” she said.
“This seems to be acceptable to more people but we welcome feedback as to the best day.”
