Tee off cancer

SATURDAY’S Breast Cancer Day at Heathcote Golf Club was a huge success, helping the club raise $536 for breast cancer research.

A sea of pink shirts donned by the men and women alike and many carts colourfully decorated in pink proved a delightful sight on the course.

The winner of the ladies was Amanda Long with 36 off a handicap of 29 on a countback from Carol Stuart with 36 off 19.

The men’s A grade winner was David Clouston with a great score of 41 off 2.

The winner in B grade was Mick Chilcott with 43 off 25.

Ball winners were: Martin Sims 42; Brad Morgan and John Neylan 40; Terry Schiels 39; Brian Davis, James Baker, John Miller and Rod Skidmore all with 37.

Martin Sims scored a par on the 18th, while birdies went to Rod Skidmore, Mick Chilcott, Brad Morgan, Brian Davis, David Clouston, Terry Schiels, Bryce Pianta, Gerald Ellis and Brian Wearne.

Nearest the pins went to Helen Carlin on the 8th, John Dunn on the 13th, David Clouston on the 16th and Bryce Pianta on the 18th.

The men’s longest drive went to Mitch Hogg and the ladies had a secret longest drive which was won by Tristen Wearne.

Prizes were awarded to the best pink dressed carts and golfers.

■WEDNESDAY’S Breast Cancer Day was won by Margaret Sims who scored 39 points off a handicap of 36.

Runner-up was Rosie Hill with 34 off 45 on a count-back from Amanda Long who scored 34 off 29.

Nearest the pins went to Amanda Long on the 18th and Rosie Hill on the 8th and second shot on the 18th.

After a lovely lunch, captain Dot Trott made the presentations to the winners of the summer season.

The winner of the Summer Cup, donated by Margaret Sims and Rosie Hill, was Carol Stuart, while the winner of the Summer Championships, donated by Maree Gastin and Lynne Fouracre, was Amanda Long.

■ ON TUESDAY, a stableford competition was held at Heathcote Golf Club.

The winner was Kris Mueck with 38 points off a handicap of +4.

Balls were won by D. Griffiths, B. Pianta and N. Bachelors. Nearest the pin went to B. Pianta.

■ ON THURSDAY, A division was won by Adrian King with a great score of 42, playing off a handicap of 10.

B division’s winner was Paul Wintle with 36 points off 27. Balls went to D. Osbourne, K. Mueck, S. Ryan, R. Blachford, A. Healy and D. Pianta.

Birdies were scored by: M. Chilcott on the 2nd hole; N. Batcheler on the 8th; A. King on the 13th and 16th; and K. Mueck on the 13th. Nearest the pin went to Greg Long.

The club would like to extend a warm welcome to new member Rod Skidmore.
