IT’S ALL systems go for the annual Travis Atkins Memorial Football Day, which is set to be held this Sunday at the Kyabram Recreation Reserve.
More than 150 Kyabram kids will showcase their skills across four games including the big game at midday.
It’s held in honour of Travis Atkins, a past player at St Augustine’s Junior Football Club, whose life was tragically cut short in a car accident.
The day is based around supporting and looking after your mates, and the organising committee wanted to reinforce the message to never get in or let your mates get in a car with someone who has been drinking.
It is not worth the risk.
The Under 14 Travis Atkins match will be held at 11am.
St Augustine’s Under 10 sides will play the Kyabram P-12 College side at 8.45am followed by the Under 12’s game at 9.45am.
Members of the Atkins family will award a trophy to the best player in the U14s match, and the winning team the memorial shield.
Past winners of the medal include AFL star Brett Deledio and Kyabram Bombers senior premiership player Liam Barrett.
Organisers are encouraging locals to support the youth of Kyabram and district and enjoy a great day’s entertainment by the future footy stars of the area.
