But Kylie Henderson of the Echuca branch knows they can provide so much more than that.
“We have pretty much anything; flights, insurance, travel money cards, cruises, accommodation… You name it we have it,” Kylie said.
After working at Flight Centre for around two years, Kylie proves the consultants definitely know what they’re talking about.
“I got the travel bug when I was in my twenties and I haven’t stopped since. I’d been to Disneyland and a few places in America and once I did that I travelled around the world,” she said.
“I’ve been to the States five times, every Disney except Japan, Italy and absolutely adored Russia.”
This is similar for the other agents in store, with each of them having come from in or around the Echuca area and have a lot of travel experience up their sleeves.
But they all know working for a company like Flight Centre has its perks.
“They’re the number one brand in the world. I call them a ‘beast’… They have one hundred per cent brand recognition. If you go to a barbecue and say you work at Flight Centre, everyone knows what you do,” Kylie said.
It may be a big company, but the Echuca team know how important the local community is.
“We’re dealing with locals all the time. They know the bus schedule and we know if they want to catch the bus down to the airport we’re not going to put them on a plane at 6am,” Kylie said.
“For us it’s knowing the area and having that fact-to-face interaction makes it easier to book something and have that personal contact with the customer.
“I always say book locally, with locals, for locals.”
Flight Centre Echuca is located at 207 Pakenham Street and is open from 9am until 5:30 Monday to Friday and 9am until 4pm on Saturdays.
