The Time to Shine competition recently saw her come away with three wins for her jazz, tap and classical solos and a qualification for one of the Ultimate Dancer Top 5.
Due to low numbers, Ivy was up for the challenge of dancing in the age group above her own which meant she was dancing against girls one or two years her senior.
But this didn’t stop her taking out top spot.
And as if this wasn’t amazing enough, her victories have earned her a golden ticket to the National Grand Final event in 2020.
‘‘She’s had to learn three brand new solos in the first term just gone. It’s all quite fresh and for her to perform them perfectly and win was so amazing,’’ Ivy’s mother Kelley Walker said.
But having so little time to prepare didn’t seem to faze young Ivy.
‘‘She seems to just take it all in her stride and doesn’t really show signs of being stressed or anxious,’’ Kelley said.
‘‘It might be due to her age, but she loves it.’’
The now seven-year-old dedicates a lot of her time to the tutus and pointed shoes.
‘‘She has four classes a week and comes home and practices up to two hours almost every day including school holidays so she’s very dedicated,’’ she said.
‘‘She has a real passion for it, she really does love it.’’
But in between all the grand jete’s and plie’s, Ivy spends time at swimming training with her grandfather.
Despite her early qualification for Nationals, Ivy still has a number of competitions before the year is out.
‘‘She’s booked in for about six or seven dance competitions for the year as well as some intense training for the Ballet Teacher’s workshop,’’ Kelley said.
Ivy’s next performances will be at the regional competition of Follow Your Dreams on May 19.
