The 49-year-old won the silver Logie on Sunday night for most outstanding actor in the six-part comedy-drama series Mr Inbetween which he wrote and stars in as hit-man Ray Shoesmith.
Scott was up against some pretty hard-hitters in the category, including Aaron Pedersen (Mystery Road, ABC), Bryan Brown (Bloom, Stan), Jay Ryan (Fighting Season, Foxtel) and Robbie Magasiva (Wentworth, Foxtel).
Scott is in Sydney busy filming season two of Mr Inbetween, which premieres in September, but the Riv is catching up with him later this week.
His hectic schedule, which involves 14 hour days, meant he couldn’t make it to the Logies on Sunday but he is understood to be over the moon with the win.
Mr Inbetween premiered on FX on September 25 last year in the US, followed by Fox Showcase in Australia the following month.
The Australian TV black comedy-drama series was apparently inspired by the 2005 feature film The Magician, which Scott created, wrote and starred in.
Scott plays a regular Joe, who is juggling numerous balls as a single father and walking his dog in the park with taking out the garbage on behalf of a shady figure in Sydney’s nightclub scene.
But behind the successful scenes, Ryan has revealed the show was a 14-year challenge for him.
‘‘To have Mr Inbetween finally made was incredible and a relief,” he said.
‘‘In the series we wanted the audience to question whether they like him or not and that was a challenge in the writing, and for me as an actor when it came to capturing that in my performance.
‘‘Mr Inbetween has all kinds of elements. It’s not just funny, it’s not just violent; it’s like a three-course meal, a bit of everything within his morally complex, dangerous and funny world.’’
