Great water report for 130 farms

By Riverine Herald

GROUNDWATER licence holders who are based in the Lower Campaspe Valley Water Supply Protection Area have received a 100 per cent allocation for the new 2018/19 season.

Goulburn-Murray Water customer operations general manager Scott Barber said that this was good news that would be well received by more than 130 Lower Campaspe Valley licensed groundwater users who rely on the resource.

‘‘Our customers are able to use up to 100 per cent of their entitlement,’’ he said.

‘‘Seasonal groundwater recovery levels in the Lower Campaspe Valley were similar to previous years, which have kept the resource in a reasonable condition.

‘‘This provides certainty to customers relying on allocations for the 2018/19 irrigation season.’’

The Lower Campaspe Valley Water Supply Protection Area extends from Lake Eppalock in the south to the Murray River in the north and incorporates the towns of Axedale, Goornong, Elmore, Lockington, Rochester and Echuca.

The allocations have been determined in accordance with the Lower Campaspe Valley Water Supply Protection Area Groundwater Management Plan.
