Car and equipment stolen

A NANNEELLA farmer has lost thousands of dollars in equipment and tools after his ute was stolen overnight.

Paul Geltch woke up about 6.30am Tuesday to find his 2015 Mazda BT-50 ute missing from his Fletcher Rd farm.

‘‘Initially I thought my partner had moved it but then realised it was stolen,’’ he said.

‘‘It’s a pretty horrible feeling. I only bought it about three, four months ago and all my stuff was in it.’’

Inside the ute was about $2000 worth of drip irrigation equipment, as well as power tools and his wallet containing his work and personal credit cards.

‘‘They haven’t been used from what I can see,’’ Mr Geltch said.

He said his vehicle was unlocked and the keys were inside.

‘‘Usually I go in and out and if the irrigation had have stopped I would have gone out there,’’ he said.

‘‘I didn’t even hear anything and usually I’m a pretty light sleeper.’’

Mr Geltch has reported the theft to Echuca police who are investigating.

‘‘I just want it back,’’ he said.

The ute, registration 1MM3QH, is worth about $38,000.
