Bail refused

AN ECHUCA man accused of firing a shotgun over the head of his ex-partner’s father has again been refused bail.

Reece Burgess, 27, appeared in Bendigo Magistrates Court on Friday charged with conduct endangering person, assault-related offences and using a phone to make threats to kill.

His bail application was refused and he was further remanded in custody to appear at Echuca Magistrates Court on April 10.

Burgess is accused of phoning and texting his ex-partner, before driving to her parents’ Eyre St property early on February 12.

Detective Senior Constable Jason Hare of Echuca Criminal Investigation Unit said after the male occupant told Burgess he was not welcome, he went to his vehicle and took out a .410 shotgun and fired three shots over the man’s head.

Burgess was arrested the next day after attending Echuca police station by appointment and has been in custody since then.

Donate blood next week

THE Australian Red Cross Blood Service’s mobile donor centre will be in Echuca from next week.

The mobile donor centre will be at the High St car park from Tuesday to April 5.

A spokesman said there were still 20 appointments available during this visit for people to book to donate, with most of these in the final week.

One in three Australians will need blood or a blood product in their lifetime, but only one in 30 donates.
