Held five times a year, the days are designed to reduce the number of number plates stolen by securing them with one-way screws.
Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator Len Wills said attending these days was “very, very important” — in case you haven’t already.
“There have been so many plates stolen since Christmas, but we’re trying to slow the theft down,” he said.
“Supermarket carparks are the worst places for it at the moment. People go in to get their shopping and walk out to find their plates gone.”
As well as the screws, residents are encouraged to find the safest place to park and keep an eye on vehicles to make sure everything is safe and locked.
“So many people are getting their valuables stolen from unlocked cars,” Mr Wills said.
“Nine out of 10 cars can be locked by the press of a button these days, it’s not hard.”
The Safe Plate Day will be held in the Echuca Bunnings car park from 9am until 2pm.
“We’ll be there in full force,” Mr Wills said.
