Parks Victoria district manager Rachel Murphy said while the rate of firewood collection on Barmah Island had been steady, an assessment of the remaining supply allowed access to be extended to more people in the community.
‘‘Parks Victoria staff will continue to patrol firewood collection areas and collectors may be asked to prove their address when collecting firewood,’’ she said.
