Info sessions to prepare providers for labour hire licensing scheme

Labour Hire Licensing Commissioner Steve Dargavel said the sessions were designed to prepare the sector and explain how the scheme would develop greater integrity and transparency in the labour market and protect workers from exploitation.

‘‘Once the licensing scheme is fully implemented, labour hire hosts should have confidence that their labour suppliers are operating within the law,’’ he said.

‘‘There are no legitimate businesses that are operating within the law who have to fear the imposition of the licensing system.’’

Labour hire providers can start applying for licences from April 29 and have six months to make an application.

Under the scheme, labour hire providers can continue to operate normally during and after the six-month transition period unless their application is refused.
