Designed by local design firm Brandrick Architects, the pavilion will feature a function area, club rooms, change rooms, a kiosk, viewing areas, public amenities, storage, car parking and landscape works.
While not budgeted in the initial project scope, a grandstand element has also been included in the plans to enable the structure to be added at a future date.
With the plans now being finalised the project can move forward into the tender and construction phase.
Murray River Council mayor Chris Bilkey said council is pleased this project milestone has been reached and thanked user groups for their continued input.
“The Moama Football Netball Club and the Cricket Club have been working with council staff right throughout this process to ensure the pavilion delivers maximum benefits and usage for the whole community,’’ he said.
“With the inclusion of this spectacular piece of community infrastructure at the rec reserve, we are certainly positioning ourselves to be a first-class regional sporting precinct.’’
Moama Football Netball Club (MFNC) president David Grubb said the club was ‘‘really excited’’ about this major project as it will ensure that Moama has the best facilities in the region.
“It will provide both our football and netball players with the opportunity to utilise a first class set up,’’ he said.
“The MFNC has worked very closely with MRC and other user groups to come up with what we think will be a facility that will match the growth of our town and then make it a sought after destination for players to come and join our club.
“It will be a very exciting time for our club and all involved.’’
Moama Cricket Club president Kirk Teasdale said the community was lucky to have a council that was proactive for the community.
“Our sports fields and parks are always maintained to high standards. After a long process the new multi-purpose pavilion will finish off the hard work to date,’’ he said.
Once complete, the new pavilion will provide shared facilities for both the football and cricket clubs, as well as a space for other community and recreational events.
Construction is expected to start later this year and be complete around July 2020.
The Moama Recreation Reserve’s multi-purpose pavilion project has been funded under the NSW Government’s Stronger Communities Fund.
