Farrer voters will have that chance when C4EM hosts Pollies in the Pub — the new and refreshed format of the traditional candidates forum.
The forums have been a highlight in the lead-up to previous state, federal and local government elections.
But C4EM chief executive Nina O’Brien said this election’s forum for Farrer would feature a new-and-improved questions section.
And she is calling for the community to send in any questions, queries and thoughts regarding local issues to help shape discussion on the night.
‘‘Water and the Murray-Darling Basin Plan are obviously important issues, but as we all know there are many other issues that affect us locally,’’ she said.
‘‘We’re really keen to hear from the community about what they have to say.
‘‘What are the issues that affect our local region? We’ll help you shape those questions so we can pose them to the candidates on the night of the forum.’’
Ms O’Brien said these issues could include the future of small business in town, support for pensioners and the need for more mental health services.
In addition to this question time facilitated by a C4EM representative, locals will still have a chance to ask candidates questions directly as at previous forums.
Member for Farrer Sussan Ley, independent candidate Kevin Mack, Greens candidate Dean Moss and United Australia Party hopeful Mike Rose will comprise the forum’s colourful panel.
Ms O’Brien urged young voters to come along and have their say.
‘‘The forum is a great way to ask questions and be heard and will help you to make up your mind about who you want to represent us for the next four years,’’ she said.
The forum will be on Monday, May 13 from 5pm to 7pm at the Border Inn, Moama.
If there are any local issues you believe need to be addressed at the forum, email ceo@c4em.com.au or call 0409 804 415.
