Man charged over Pyramid Hill shooting

UPDATE 9.45AM: The 69-year-old man charged with shooting a woman at Mincha near Pyramid Hill has been released on bail.

Abdul Elraoui, 69, appeared in Bendigo Magistrates Court yesterday charged with several offences, including reckless conduct endangering life, intentionally cause injury and prohibited person use a firearm.

He was bailed to appear at the same court on October 2 for a committal mention. 

10:04PM TUESDAY - The 69-year-old Mincha man has since been charged with a number of offences, including reckless conduct endangering life, intentionally cause injury and prohibited person use a firearm.

The man has been remanded to appear at Bendigo Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, June 12.

EARLIER - Police have arrested a man over a shooting near Pyramid Hill earlier today.

Investigators have been told a 21-year-old Epsom woman walking with two friends was shot to the upper body near Mincha-Canary Island Rd about 3.20am.

The three sought refuge in a nearby house.

She has been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The 69-year-old Mincha man is in custody assisting police with their inquiries.

The exact circumstances surrounding the shooting are yet to be established and the investigation remains ongoing.
