Detective Senior Constable Troy Wickham of Echuca Criminal Investigation Unit said thieves broke into the club’s Murray Valley Hwy coolroom overnight Friday.
‘‘A significant amount of alcohol was stolen, mainly Scotch, Bundaberg Rum and Jack Daniels cans,’’ he said. ‘‘They have obviously had to use some sort of vehicle to take them.
‘‘We are working with staff to review CCTV footage.’’
Club manager Leigh Newton said it was a disappointing outcome.
‘‘We will review our security and add to it,’’ he said.
He said the theft would not affect Saturday’s race meeting, which was shaping up to be a successful event.
‘‘Our fridges will be full,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, a car and trailer have been stolen from Tongala.
A 2002 green Ford Fairlane sedan, registration RZE342, was stolen from a Kerr Rd residence about 6.20am yesterday.
‘‘The victim awoke to hear the sound of his vehicle starting and by the time he got out, he saw it heading north along Kerr Rd,’’ Snr Constable Wickham said.
A trailer was also stolen from outside Tongala Hotel in Mangan St between Friday night and Monday morning.
The faded white 6x4 trailer has a coolroom on it and features Tongala Hotel Motel and For Hire stickers.
