Student learn the fun in sport

ROCHESTER Primary School students from grades 5 and 6, plus a few from grade 4, headed over to the Rochester Recreation Reserve on Friday to participate in a sports afternoon with local and surrounding schools.

The event is ran by the Rochester Primary School and involves students playing football, netball and soccer.

On the day there were four football teams, eight soccer teams and 12 netball teams participating, involving around 250 children.

The afternoon provides the students an opportunity to be active and enjoy sport, but also provides them with an opportunity to mix with new children, many of whom they will be attending secondary school with.

The Rochester students were successful on the day.

The football team went through the day undefeated, the two netball teams only lost one game each out of five and the soccer teams also only dropped one game out of their six.

It was fantastic to see so many students competing and enjoying sport and the standard of the day was high.

A special thank you to Rochester Secondary College for the wonderful support they provide to all of the primary school’s sporting events.

They provided 10 terrific umpires that officiated in all of the games in all of the sports.

Without their support the primary school would not be able to have such a successful day.
