LOCAL school students have battled it out for a place at the School Sport Victoria cross country state championships after travelling to the regionals at St Arnaud’s last week.

The event combined both primary and secondary school runners who qualified after progressing from the Campaspe District event, which was held last month.
Rochester Secondary’s sports captain Yolanda Foley claimed a ninth place finish in the 17-20 girls category.
Her run has earned Yolanda (pictured) a place in the state finals — with all top 12 competitiors earning a trip to Melbourne next month.
The state championships will be held in Bundoora — in Melbourne’s northern suburbs — on July 18.
