Seymour’s Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Walk will receive a CCTV upgrade, thanks to a $5000 donation from the Freemasons Foundation of Victoria.
Commemorative Walk committee secretary Ross Gregson said recent vandalism at the walk meant a bigger CCTV operation was necessary.
‘‘CCTV isn’t cheap and this generous donation from the Freemasons, combined with funding from the Victorian Veterans Council, means we are 90 per cent of the way to the CCTV being fully paid for,’’ he said.
‘‘This funding is indicative of the type of people and service groups we have in town — always willing to help each other out and contribute to projects that improve our town.’’
Seymour Masonic Lodge’s Clint Crout said the funding was important for the future of the commemorative walk.
‘‘It will be a significant upgrade for an important memorial in the community,’’ he said.
‘‘It allows for security and safety and gives everyone a chance to enjoy the walk.’’
