The annual general meeting of the Seymour VRI Bowling Club was held on Friday with a good attendance, considering the weather conditions.
The outgoing committee gave the reports on various activities in the club, its successes and some disappointments.
All four teams reached their respective grand finals, with the division two and the midweek teams winning their pennants for the season.
The membership remained steady at 56 members.
Both greens held up well for play throughout the hot and dry season requiring plenty of water to keep them up to the standard.
The club traded quite well, although with a considerable loss for the season — the club obtained many acquisitions with solar energy on the roof, computer upgrades and other items to make the club more comfortable for members and visitors.
Quite a substantial amount was spent on re-surfacing the number two green as well as maintaining or replacing the club equipment.
All this spending on acquisitions is an investment for the future of the club.
The following were elected to the board of management:
•President Wayne Noonan
•Secretary Stephen McGregor
•Treasurer Helen Flint
•Board members Brad Anderson, Ian Cashill, Peter Delzotto, Geoff Dixon and Joe Purcell. •Selection committee Ian Cashill, Phil Challis and Geoff Dixon
•Club captain Michael Szczykulski
Long term past treasurer Robert Micklethwait retired from the board this year.
After serving as treasurer since 1999 on and off, he also served as president and vice president during this period and has done a sterling job in the managing of the club finances.
That is not an easy task with a small club as the demands for spending can easily exceed the income received.
All members are grateful for his judgement and planning of the club’s financial position.
The treasurer’s position will be taken on by Helen Flint, who will be the first female board member.
Helen is well qualified and experienced to take on the position and will have the support of all members.

A last reminder of the club’s Annual General Meeting being held this coming Sunday beginning with a soup and sandwiches lunch at 12.30pm followed by the meeting at approximately 1.30pm.
There was a pleasing number of nominations meaning that a vote would be required to decide a number of positions; great effort by all who have put their hands up.
The visit by some bowlers from the Heatherdale Bowling Club proved a great success and the weather was kind to us for the whole day. A big thanks to those who provided salads for lunch.
Belated birthday greetings to Toy Boy, Graeme, for last week. Get well wishes are extended to Graham, Annie and Mary who had to miss the Heatherdale visit through ill health; hopefully we’ll see these members at the AGM on Sunday.
