Around 35 members from eight Country Women’s Association branches attended the annual Eastern Goulburn Valley CWA conference yesterday in Shepparton.
The day began with an annual general meeting followed by an autumn conference at the Shepparton East Football Netball clubrooms.
The Eastern Goulburn Valley CWA is made up of members from Caniambo, Congupna, Dookie, Pine Lodge, Karramomus, Katandra West, Shepparton East and the Shepparton Sunset branch.
Eastern Goulburn Valley group president Gwenda Metzke said the day was the perfect opportunity for members to come together and be updated on what was happening in the association.
‘‘A representative of our head office comes up and tells us all the news from head office, she also answers any questions and it’s just an opportunity for general chat,’’ Ms Metzke said.
‘‘At the conference we also discuss our aims and fundraising events for the next six months.’’
Ms Metzke said the group currently had a number of plans in the works, with their group exhibition being held on April 11 and some junior members preparing to attend the Associated Country Women of the World Conference in Melbourne.
Ms Metzke said there was always a lot happening in each of the branches and encouraged anyone interested to consider joining their local club.
‘‘We’re always interested in new members, people of any ages particularly juniors up to the age of 18, anybody is welcome,’’ she said.
