Bushfire in Shepparton Regional Park

By Ashlea Witoslawski

A grass and shrub fire burnt 10 hectares of land near the southern end of Shepparton Regional Park this morning.

Local CFA crews were called to the area at about 9.40am after they were alerted by smoke sightings.

14 CFA vehicles attended from local brigades as well as support from Shepparton East, Merrigum and Rushworth.

Five Forest Fire Management Victoria vehicles also responded and police.

CFA operations officer Travis Harris said it took authorities about an hour and 20 minutes to get the blaze under control and the cause is still being investigated.

Local CFA are urging people to take extra care this fire season and prepare their homes for summer.
