Murray Bombers have the edge over Demons

By Andrew Johnston

TOP two on the Goulburn Valley League A grade netball ladder meant a great deal to Echuca for a reason.

Because now, it is a chance to advance to the grand final.

Besides the undefeated Bears, no one has really provided a lot of pressure for the Murray Bombers.

And that includes Sunday’s opponent Shepparton United.

These two sides have squared off twice in 2018, and Echuca has taken the chocolates on both occasions.

And it has done so by reasonable margins on both occasions.

When the teams first met under the lights of Victoria Park in round three, it was Echuca by 16 goals.

When the Demons hosted in round 14, it was the Murray Bombers by less — winning this time by 11 goals.

But the fact remains that Echuca are the better netball side.

And there is now an expectation that they will perform in the way we have seen all season, which will mean a win and advancing to the grand final.

A few things will need to be worked on this week if they are going to get to that stage though.

The Murray Bombers need to cut turnovers down even more than they already have to make sure they win.

They need to be a bit more slick with their ball movement as well.

Echuca is the second best team in this competition right now, but if it is going to beat Shepparton when it gets there it needs to make a few more improvements.

We believe they can get these things right this week, and that means a win against the Demons.

Prediction: Echuca by 12 goals.
