Dean cleans up on shooting range

By Riverine Herald

ECHUCA Moama Field and Games August shoot was held on Sunday, August 19.

A total of 75 shooters came to test their skills on Glen Mounseys’ course of 25 targets, with shooters completing three rounds of the course over the day to make up the 75 targets required.

The targets did not disappoint with four shooters managing to shoot a perfect round of 25 targets each during the day.

Nathan Stuchbree and Nick Dean cleaned up in round two for the day, with Steve Norris and Jason Smith both shooting theirs in round three.

High gun for the day went to local shooter Nick Dean, who along with his 25 also shot a 24 then a 22 to win with a score of 71 out of 75.

At the conclusion of the days shooting president Ricky Keirl had the honour of presenting two of our members with life memberships.

John Thompson and Kevin Crisp are both hard working members of Echuca Moama Field and Game, and both joined field and fame in January 1990.

There is an incredibly long list of the many jobs and executive positions the two have been a part of over the last 28 years.

The two have set many courses for monthly shoots, and are always happy to put their hands up when volunteers are needed.

There isn’t an inch of concrete around the club that Thommo hasn’t laid, and Kevin is behind all of the electrical work that keeps the club running smoothly.

The weekend after our shoot the local Army Cadet unit had their annual camp out at the ground.

Around 40 cadets stayed at the club giving them the opportunity to use their knowledge and skills, and to put them to use while setting up camp, staying out overnight, and navigating their way around the bush.

Echuca Moama Field and Game’s next shoot will be held this Sunday.

This will be a 75-target event beginning at 10am, and is generously sponsored by Echuca Furniture Stores.

Any enquiries can be directed to president Ricky on 0418 922 951 or to the club’s Facebook page.
