The reigning premiers led by either 12 or 13 goals at every single change of the match, never looking seriously challenged.
Though Echuca coach Gina Pearson said Tatura was a more problematic side than many had anticipated.
“It was a tougher game than expected,” she said.
“Tatura are a strong side, they are aggressive in the way they attack the ball and act around the contests and it makes them difficult to line up against.
“They may have been missing some players earlier this year because they are definitely not a bad side, we had to play our best netball to beat them on Saturday.”
Pearson said while the side performed strongly, the side’s defensive pressure would need to improve as the season went on.
Pearson also said her experienced players were the key for victory.
“The girls who have played a lot of netball for this side really produced for us,” she said.
“Holly Long was fantastic. She had tough match ups all day but was always able to produce for us.”
It was a special match for Long, who in her 173rd appearance for Echuca’s A grade side became the highest game player for the club in GVL A grade history.
“She’s been fantastic for this club for so long,” Pearson said.
“Her play is always great, but her leadership around the court really stands out as well.”
The Bombers attention now turns to Kyabram on Saturday.
