CLUB competitions are drawing to a close with the presentation evening only a fortnight away.

The women have reached the final stage of the 100-up championship, with Leanne McInnes to play Phyllis MacFarlane for the title.

McInnes outlasted a gallant Annie Haines in the semi-final after Haines held a slender lead midway through the encounter.

However, McInnes applied the pressure in picking up 7-8-9-10 = 34 points over four ends to break the shackles and move into the final, winning the game 100-73.

MacFarlane had earlier defeated Annette Brereton in a breathtaking game of bowls.

In the men’s section the 100-up has reached the semi-finals, where Ray Hanson will play Graham Turner and Owen McPhee will meet Kalvin Stout.

The president’s trophy 21-up championship has Ray Hanson into the final.

In the bottom half of the draw Ian Johnson has to play Brian Kinnane in a quarter-final. The winner will meet Kalvin Stout.

Don Isgro proved too consistent for Geoff Shawcross to reach the semi-final stage. These games must be played shortly.

Tom Davis competed in the recent Edinburgh Shield (R.S.L.) held at the Rochester Bowling Club.

Davis bowled at his normal standard and was a definite strength in the side skipped by Dick Fuek.

The Lockington Bowls Club members offer condolences to Ian and Kath Palmer on the recent sad passing of Glenys (Palmer) Gibbons, a sister of Ian.

With the Good Friday celebration being held, the weekly Friday evening meal was cancelled and the lucky members draw will jackpot to lofty heights for this coming week.

The club presentation evening will be held on Sunday, May 5 at 6.30pm for a 7pm meal.

Names are required for catering purposes.

On Thursday, May 2 the Campaspe Valley Bowls Division presentation night will be held at the Lockington Bowls Club.

The evening will commence at 6pm for a 6.30pm meal.

The highlight will be the acknowledgement of the award winners for the 2018/19 season.
