AFTER a strong start to the season, Leitchville-Gunbower have been in free fall ever since — losing their past four games.

But on Saturday against Mount Pleasant, the Bombers showed signs of getting back to their best.
In the opening half, Leitchy matched the third placed Mounts — although a 13-goal to three third term put the game out of the visitors’ reach.
‘‘We’ve had a really tough period, but to see our style of play coming back is really pleasing,’’ coach Sammi Drover said.
‘‘Our decision making and control of the ball let us down in the third quarter and they were able to capitalise. The overall performance was a big step in the right direction.’’
While they didn’t come away with the four points to keep their slim finals hopes alive, Drover was pleased to see her side overcome the adversity they have faced in previous weeks.
‘‘Everyone could have taken a backwards step in this situation, but we’ve continued to fight,’’ she said.
‘‘As a club, we’re committed to getting the best out of ourselves and that’s what we are going to continue to do.’’
Next up for the Bombers is a trip to take on North Bendigo, who sit just above them on the ladder in sixth position — although Leitchy did take the four points when the two sides met earlier this year.
‘‘We will take plenty of confidence away from our last clash,’’ Drover explained. ‘‘If we can produce a similar level of performance it will go a long way to securing the four points.
