A top side in the competition, with just two losses to this point of the season, was no match.
Leitchville-Gunbower is starting to look like the reigning premiers again, as the Bombers knocked off Mount Pleasant for the second time this season.
Coach Danny Teskera said it was an important victory for his club.
“It was pretty important for us to tick this one off,” he said.
“Looking at our fixture, things don’t get easier as we get into the back half of the year, so we needed to show ourselves we were able to beat top sides in the next few weeks.
“Mount Pleasant aren’t sitting lower on the ladder, they’ve been able to beat pretty much everyone in the competition and produce some really good football as the season has gone on, so being able to get a victory against them was huge for us going forward.”
It was by no means a perfect showing.
The Bombers had some slight issues in front of goals, at one stage having 4.7 on the board while their opposition had 7.2.
But the team responded afterwards.
“We’ve started to get the belief in our side of late,” he said.
“Four weeks ago if we got into the same position as we were in on Saturday, we drop the game. But we are in a different position at the moment, we believe we are able to get ourselves back into the game.
“We kept ourselves in it in the second half and were able to get in front when it mattered to get the victory.
“In terms of the belief around our side, getting a win like this really just helps us to grow even further. It will do us wonders as the season continues on.”
The belief will need to be on show this week.
The Bombers are heading out to North Bendigo for another grand final rematch against the Bulldogs.
