Congratulations to waterskier Dylan Stevenson who is the 2018 Sportstar of the Year September nominee.
Dylan is a Hawkesbury 120 winner and now he has the Southern 80 – his home event – in his sights.
In September the Echuca local skied behind winning boat Arkham Asylum in the speedster’s first Superclass run in the Hawkesbury.
And with the 50th running of the Echuca-Moama ski classic in February, Stevenson has fired an early warning shot for his fellow competitors.
The Hawkesbury is the longest ski race in Australia, and Arkham Asylum snatched its maiden Superclass victory in 41 minutes, 39.36 seconds.
Stevenson’s fellow skier Clancy Vaughan said it was an early season win the team needed to get under their belt.
“It’s always in the back of your head (to win in superclass). You think about it, you visualise it but this early in the season, this fresh, this new team, this young team, this is massive.”
The result backs up a stellar performance earlier in the year when Stevenson skied behind The Judge F2 in the unlimited outboard 2-up event at Lake Charm for the third point score event of the Victorian Titles series.
Stevenson has demonstrated he will be a force to be reckoned with come February and is now a senior Sportstar monthly winner.
