Club attracts ‘raw’ talent

By Yarrawonga Chronicle

The heats of the Mulwala Water Ski Club’s Got Talent were held on Sunday with an impressive 30 competitors lining up for a chance to win the $5000 first prize.

Mulwala Water Ski Club’s promotions and Marketing Manager Cathy Randell said it was the club’s biggest ever number of entrants who came from all over the region to do battle.

“There was a huge display of talent to be enjoyed,” Cathy said.

“Entrants performed songs ranging from AC/DC’s ‘Back in Black’ to Queens ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and Lady Gaga along with Bradley Cooper’s recent hit ‘Shallow’.

“Contestants ranged in age from 8-years-old to 50 plus providing a huge amount of undiscovered raw talent,” Cathy said.

The judging panel included Fiona Blick, Leanne Mickleson and Greg Hough who all had a very difficult time selecting 12 performers to go through to the grand final.

Previous winners of Ski Clubs Got Talent who took home the $5000 in cash include Anthony Lucas who has just signed a deal with Australian Telco, Optus, to license his music to be featured on store playlists around the country. Another winner, Isiah Firebrace, went on to win X-Factor and performed at Eurovision in 2017.

This event is free to see and people are encouraged to come and show their support to these rising stars.

The 12 competitors will now do battle on Sunday, June 30 from 12 noon where each contestant will perform two different types of songs on the day.
