The top of the tables clashes in the netball in A and B did not go our way but we are sure the loss will hurt our proud girls and steel them for a winter of hard work.
On the green field, which was looking a picture by the way, the Pigeons had their first three victory day for 2021 with the Rumble on the River certainly returning with a vengeance, with the senior game going down to the wire.
However, and perhaps more importantly, on the day the club was able to celebrate the life of Neil Davis. Upstairs from midday “Davo’s Day” was held to celebrate Neil’s impact not just on the Pigeons but also the community.
Thank you to Raelene and Rebecca, Sarah, Kristy and Laura (star netballers for the club in their own right) for such a wonderful celebration and for sharing it with us. Further, a special thank you to all those that spoke on the day providing such a wonderful tribute.
In regard to finest achievements, many point toward the ‘89 Flag, where following Les Parish’s season eve departure the club turned to Neil in its hour of need, only for him to deliver six months later the club’s first premiership in 30 years.
However, some Pigeons would counter his partnership with Raelene which saw all four daughters succeed on Grand Final day and form the backbone of a powerhouse netball team was the equal if not more impressive!
This week we start the first of two byes with a much-needed break after seven straight matches to start the 2021 season.
Our next game is at home on May 29 with the Annual Ladies Day hosted by Paris Bonat.
Tickets are available from Paris, simply call into Mint Boutique grab an outfit for the day and ticket and away you go!
