C Grade
Picola United 9 defeated by Tungamah 31.
Netball is back and C Grade is off to a great start with a good win. Carly’s first game in goals and she shot 14 out of the teams 31 goals with the coaches very impressed with how she moved in the ring. The club welcome Kirby to Tungamah, her first game was a standout with her defensive pressure keeping Picola to 9 goals with the help of a very strong defence in Kait, Grace, Ally and Mariah. Mariah and Mellissa fed well into the shooters.
It’s great to have Lisa and Steph back at Tunga, their impact was reflected on the scoreboard and can only improve once the nerves wear off.
It was an awesome game to watch, and the coaches are very excited to see what this team will achieve!

C Reserve no game. Picola didn’t field a side.
Under 17’s
Picola United 41 defeated Tungamah 22.
It was awesome to get back into netball this year and see everyone get around each other. The under 17s didn’t quite come away with a win in round 2.
Picola came out with a very strong attack and mid court which really made the defenders Jade and Emmi work hard, Jade had a really strong game in WD showing huge potential.
Jess held up the mid court with her strong drives on to the ring.
Players player went to young GA Ruby Thomas who played an exceptional game in goals helping the new girls learn the ropes.
Overall the girls all played well and stayed positive despite being beaten and showed huge potential. Awards: Player player - Ruby Thomas, Coaches awards - Jade Ralph.
Under 15s
Picola United 7 defeated by Tungamah 38.
Wow, what a great first game from the under 15 girls. From the start they came out strong, taking intercepts and applying pressure all the way down the court.
The defence end worked hard and held strong only letting their opposition score 7 goals for the whole game.
Attackers also worked well, moving the ball down the court into the ring where a total of 38 goals was scored.
There is a few things to work on at training but the club couldn’t be any more proud of how well the girls played to get their first win!
Special thanks to Leanne Laffan for scoring and Jake Henderson for first aiding this week.
Awards - Maccas - Maddi Lawrence, Crusty Loaf - Sophie Martin.
Under 13s
Picola 5 defeated Tungamah 4.
It’s great to start the 2021 season. The Bears have a young under 13s team who are lucky enough to be coached by the very talented Jenny.
Over the weekend both teams were very slow off the blocks with no goal scored till 3rd quarter.
The Bears captain this week was Charli who was a pocket rocket in the centre, continually running and fighting for the ball.
Maddie helped move the ball around the ring as a shooter, it was Brooke that finally scored the 1st goal for the season after Elli intercepted the ball while playing attack and fed the ball in.
Elli then switched back to defence along with Emily and both girls read the play well and were able to intercept many balls and keep the pressure on Picola.
Demmi after already playing a game of netball had a quarter in WD and put pressure on her opponent at all times.
Tayla, Jaz and Abbi were the centre players and they never once stopped running, hands up defending the ball and fighting for any loose balls.
Milli and Lillie both played in defence and were kept very quiet, but when the ball did come down the girls rebounded well.
A few things to work on in the coming weeks, but the coaches are sure the girls will improve each week if they listen to Coach Jen. Big thanks to Deb for umpiring.
Awards: Coach award: Crusty Loaf - Jaz and Players award: McDonalds - Tayla
Under 11 vs Picola- No score kept.
Welcome back to the mini Bears and families, it was great to be back on the court.
The young side played well and listened to Coach Deb throughout the game.
Chloe was the lucky goalie to score the first goal for the 2021 season and she was supported by Paige who rebounded well and moved to space.
Kiera and Billie Jo serviced the centre court well, moving and reading the play of the ball resulting in many intercepts.
Ava’s first 5 seconds on the court resulted in an intercept and turn over and along with Demmi their hands were always up defending the ball.
Grace was put in her unknown defence end and didn’t let anything get past her, she then swapped back to attack and shot some goals.
Chaye the little pocket rocket was everywhere on court, read the play well and moved the ball down the court.
Big thanks to Molly for umpiring.
Awards: McDonalds: Paige and Crusty Loaf: Grace.
