Staff noticed that some external window surrounds had been removed from the premises on Samaria Rd at some point before last Wednesday afternoon.
Cooinda building services manager David Morrow said that luckily the building had not been seriously damaged and no-one had managed to gain entry.
“We were suspicious of the circumstances so we called the police,” Mr Morrow said.
“They came and investigated, and they agreed that it looked like an attempted break-in.
“There was just a small amount of external damage, but we managed to replace the window surrounds without any cost.”
Anyone who saw anything suspicious is asked to phone Benalla Police Station on 5760 0200 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
