Miedecke crowned Champion at Winton

"Champion at Winton" was held at Winton Motor Raceway during the weekend, with George Miedecke taking out round four of the TA2 Muscle Car Series by a single point over rival Aaron Seton.

The TA2 Series headlined the event, which was supported by the Excel Series, the Miniature Race Car Series and the Tin Tops to ensure a jam-packed fixture of racing for local fans.

Winton Motor Raceway circuit manager Jeff Grech said the weekend had produced plenty of exciting racing for fans.

“It was fantastic - [the TA2’s] were very fast, they’re not too much slower than the supercar,” Grech said.

“And luckily the weather held out for all the competitor to get through racing without changing to wet weather tyres.”

Burning rubber: The miniature racing cars of Chad Cotton and Craig White spew flame from their exhaust. Cotton won Race 3 with White finishing closely behind.

The next big event to drive into Winton is Shannons Nationals, which will be held from August 31 to September 1.

Grech said people could again expect great racing and atmosphere at the event.

The weekend will be headlined by the TCR Australia Series, in its first appearance at Winton.

“As it’s a new event, there is a lot of interest,” Grech said.

“They had their first test day here earlier in year.

“Our track particularly suits that style of car.

“The drivers are looking forward to racing on it.”
