Evans on point at Albury Cup

By Meg Saultry

The Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup was held in Albury-Wodonga last week, and representing Benalla in the week-long competition was Milly Evans, who starred for the Under-14s Vic Bushrangers squad.

While Evans’ squad came off second best in four of their five pool games, the team lifted the bar in the finals series, winning two of their three matches to end the tournament on a high.

Evans was more than a handy inclusion for her team, averaging 9.25 points a game, and shot a personal best 15 points in three matches.

Benalla's Kaitlynne Frost also represented the region at the Cup but in a different capacity, after being chosen as one of a number of junior referees for the tournament.

Different role: Kaitlynne Frost swapped her Breakers colours for that of black and white as an umpire at the Country Cup.

Frost's selection is a noteworthy achievement for a junior referee, highlighting her advancement on the referee pathway.
