PHIL Carroll, first year coach of reigning Murray Football League premiers Nathalia, has resigned from his position.
Carroll stepped down last Monday, effective immediately, with caretaker coach Jason Limbrick taking charge.
In a statement, the club said it placed “high expectations on our leaders and people holding positions of responsibility within our club”.
“Our football department has been in constant discussions with senior coach Phil Carroll during the season regarding the demands of the job and his ability to perform these at the level expected," the statement reads.
“As a result of these discussions Phil Carroll has resigned from his position as senior coach and player at the Nathalia Football Netball Club effective immediately.
“Jason Limbrick has taken on the position of caretaker senior coach with Malcolm Barnes to continue as his assistant.
“The club will now consider all options from a coaching perspective in the coming weeks until a permanent replacement can be named.’’
Carroll took over the role from Craig Kellow, who had coached the Purples to the previous three flags. After the weekend Nathalia was second on the ladder, with a 7-1 record.
Carroll was unable to be contacted.
