Scott Oval was vandalised on Wednesday evening, with a driver tearing up a section of grass on the perimeter of the venue.

The driver spun out on the grass — next to the cricket nets — at around 9pm before hitting a sapling as they drove off.
The incident comes three days before the venue hosts Murray League semi-finals and chairman of the Scott Oval committee of management Mick Briody said it could have been worse had the driver of what he believed to be a four-wheel drive not been scared off by members of the Kiwanis club, who were meeting at the venue.
“The damage repair will again be carried out by the Scott Oval committee of management, whose funds are supplied by the user groups and Moira Shire,” he said.
“Yes it is all ratepayer monies used to repair and beautify an asset available to the general public.
“It has been some expense and a lot of volunteer hours to maintain and present this facility to the community for their use.
“It is extremely disappointing that a small group of bogans thought it would be funny to destroy and vandalise the good work put in by others.
Mr Briody, who was at the Kiwanis meeting, said the driver was with at least three other occupants.
“What makes it worse is there were others down there at the time who were cheering on the offenders and this makes them just as complicit in the willful damage,” he said.
“If you were involved, you should hang your head in shame as you really have no place in our community.
“Your senseless and selfish acts have only taken from every other member of this community.”
Scott Oval is used by a number of community groups, including Cobram Football Netball Club, Cobram Yarroweyah United Cricket Club and Kiwanis.
