While it faced a tough few months due to COVID-19 related struggles, costs associated with the running of the charity will be lessened thanks to a generous donation from Barooga Lions.
The club will hand over $500 to Moira FoodShare tomorrow, with Lions president Darren Laffan saying the donation would help the program continue to feed mouths in the region.
“Barooga Lions are pleased to support another local community charity, particularly during these difficult times,” Mr Laffan said.
“The volunteers of Moira FoodShare do a wonderful job in providing food relief and we want to support their efforts in any way we can”.
Delivered by MHA Care, Moira FoodShare is volunteer-driven distribution service which supplies groceries to those in the area who require additional support.
Moira FoodShare has battled through supply issues of its own during the pandemic, with member Frank Wallace expressing his appreciation for the assistance Barooga Lions has provided in the past and present.
“Barooga Lions have been a wonderful supporter of Moira FoodShare for many years, and have in particular ensured our annual Christmas hamper preparations are completed successfully,” Mr Wallace said.
Any person, family and the broader community who may be experiencing difficult times in respect to food relief can contact Moira FoodShare on 0419 809 171 for support.
