With school holidays in Melbourne and Mitchell Shire set to be extended by an extra week due to the COVID-19 lock-down in those areas, it was made clear by schools via Facebook this would not be the case in Cobram.
Cobram Secondary College principal Kimberly Tempest assured students the third term would resume as scheduled on July 13.
“Recent media announcements may have caused some anxiety and confusion for students and families,” she said.
“However, I want to assure you that all Cobram Secondary College students return from school holidays this coming Monday (July 13). The extended holiday announcement is only for schools in metropolitan Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire.”
Cobram and District Specialist School and Cobram Primary School also penned a July 13 start date for Term 3.
Meanwhile, Cobram Anglican Grammar School issued a statement on Facebook to notify families its scheduled return date of July 21 was still going ahead.
“You will have heard by now that in response to the evolving COVID-19 outbreaks in Melbourne, the VIC/NSW border will close at 11.59 pm on Tuesday, July 7,” principal Steve Gale said.
“This presents our NSW residents and families with questions around the likelihood of the expected resumption of school for Term 3 on Tuesday, July 21.
“There will be further information released by the NSW Government over the coming days, however it is my understanding that students will be permitted to travel over the border to attend school each day. This will require you to apply for an online permit through Service NSW.
“We will be speaking with our bus providers to understand if and how this will affect our services. We will communicate information to you as soon as this comes to hand.”
It was also mentioned in the post that Keith Willett would begin as principal of Cobram AGS on July 13, and would be available from Monday if families required additional information.
