The Suns are seeking expressions of interest from fellow regional clubs to be involved in a makeshift competition.
Last week, the Suns outlined the details of a possible "pre-season" competition via their Facebook page.
Although the nuts and bolts of the competition are still being put together, the season would take place over spring and summer.
GV Suns’ senior coach Craig Carley revealed that the Suns’ plan was to help bridge the gap between the cancelled 2020 season and next year's campaign.
“Basically, we want to organise a competition to help bridge that gap that has been created between the cancelled season and the 2021 season,” he said.
“It will be like a pre-season competition before pre-season gets under way for clubs, and it will primarily focus on juniors.
“We need those kids out there playing to help further their development and get them prepared for next year.
“We will work out the concept of how the competition may look once we hear more from the governing bodies.”
Despite regional Victoria entering step three of the road map to recovery, contact sport for adults is still not allowed.
But the Suns hope that the restrictions can continue to ease, which would allow an over-18s competition to be played.
Even with the uncertainty of when adults can resume contact sport, the Suns’ coach highlighted there had already been lots of interest from clubs keen to be involved.
“There has been plenty of interest, which is terrific,” Carley said.
“Clubs from as far as Geelong are interested and we have got some local clubs showcasing interest.
“Some big teams in the Albury league and BASL have expressed their desire to be involved. Hopefully we can get something up and running.”
