Ms Lister had taken her son and one of his friends to the shelter to have a look at the animals, as something to do during the school holidays, and instantly fell for a little cat with piercing green eyes, then called ‘Okra’.
For the first month after adopting her, the little cat would hide under and behind furniture, not wanting to know her new family.
Nearly six months later, Cleo is a totally different cat: sleeping on her family members’ laps, playing and cuddling to her heart’s content.
Ms Lister has said that not only did her family make a difference in Cleo’s life, Cleo has made a difference in their lives.
