Wang Hardcourt and Corowa had an enthralling match on Saturdday with the result unknown until the last point had been played. Hardcourt had a slender lead early but Corowa hit back to level the scores with the final 3 sets to play, the result was all but done when Hardcourt’s Mario Pane & Andy Lucas won 8-0, then Corowa’s Marianne Spencer & Mel Rhodes won 8-2 to have the match on a knife’s edge. The last set see-sawed as each team had the advantage and momentum at different times but it was Matt Curran & Kerrie Henderson that held strong for Hardcourt to ease them over line and a 4 games victory. Hardcourt’s best were Mario Pane (3 sets), Matt Curran & Kerrie Henderson. Corowa were best represented by Peter Filliponi, Greg Filliponi & Marianne Spencer (2 sets each). Boorhaman were on the brink of an upset against Everton when they won 2 of the first 3 sets but as good teams do, Everton overcame a sluggish start to win the next 3 sets and regain the ascendancy, and then went on to complete a comfortable victory. Everton had none better than Jo Lucas & Bec Sacco (3 sets each), Boorhaman were lead by Darren Saward, Jack Nolan & Sally O’Donahue.
