Works are set to begin on the refurbishment of Murray River Council’s new administration building at the Moama Recreation Reserve, after council recommended the contract be awarded to AV Builders Pty Ltd to undertake the work and delivery of the project.
The build incorporates stage one of the project which will see the refurbishment of the old front and upstairs sections of the Moama Sports Club building, which was acquired by council in September 2018.
The works, to be completed by December, will deliver a space that will be utilised as formal council chambers and an office complex for council staff.
Mayor Chris Bilkey said the new administration building would enable council to sustainably deliver services to the community into the future — accommodating the needs of current and future residents and staff.
‘‘It has become increasingly difficult to deliver council’s important services from the crowded Meninya St office,’’ Cr Bilkey said.
Stage two of the refurbishment will consider the middle and back sections of the downstairs area currently used as changeroom facilities by sporting groups.
