Soccer season drawing to a close

Deniliquin and District Soccer Club players are getting towards the end of the season now with only two weeks left until finals.

It has been great watching the players learn new skills and grow over this season with plenty of those new skills on show for round 10 on the weekend.

Team photos will be taken this week so please ensure you get there on time to be included in your teams photo.

Tonight is be the last week of the High School night competition. All registered high school students are welcome, 6.30pm at Rotary park.


A Grade: There was a very tight and entertaining game between Mariners and United with Mariners managing to come out with a win that could have gone either way.

Mariners 2 def United 1. Best: Tom Kirk, George Fulton. Sportsman: Treh Salan, Charlotte Hodgson.

Heart 3 def Victory 1. Best: Bethany Jansen, Harry Kirk. Sportsman: Nathan Ho, Masen Brain.

B Grade: There was some great teamwork from both sides in the Victory vs Roar match. Also displayed was some strong striking in the United vs Glory match. In addition to those two great games, there was an awesome display of sportsmanship between Mariners and Heart with all games ending very close.

Glory 2 def United 1. Best: William Burke, Winnie Thomson. Sportsman: Madie Hodgson, Lara Strong.

Victory 3 def Roar 2. Best: Mitch Kelly, Antwoin Morgan. Sportsman: Nathan Coleman, Bethany McCurdy.

C Grade: There were mixed results in C grade with first time scorer Gabby Crothers taking part in a Glory victory against United.

Roar 6 def Victory 3. Best: Alana Jansen, Seth Hodgson. Sportsman: Alex Ledwidge, Bailey Doncon.

Mariners 3 drew Heart 3. Best: Alysssa Hawley, Lucas Thompson. Sportsman: Charli Brain, Recee King.

Glory 9 def United 2. Best: Jorja Jansen, Sebastian Nelley. Sportsman: Grace Kelly, Gabriella Corthers.

D Grade: There were some great games this week with Heart getting their first win of the season, with an all round team effort against Mariners. Really good passing and teamwork was on display between Victory vs Roar and United vs Glory but the highlight was Charlie Murray’s aeroplane celebration after scoring for his team.

Heart 6 def Mariners 2. Best: Spencer Hayes, Zayn Ledwidge. Sportsman: Georgie Butcher, Oscar Cartwright.

Open: There were very close matches this week with one draw and two 2 vs 1 results. An own goal was the only thing that could separate United and Mariners.
