This year, obviously much different to any other, has already been busy with so many other sports cancelled and our sports men and women turning their hand to golf.
We are extremely fortunate to still be enjoying our time on the course, which makes it imperative that everyone keeps following the social distancing protocols so this can continue.
This weekend we have the Western Riverina District Golf Association championships, with fourball stroke on Saturday and stroke on Sunday. Note that Saturday will be a drawn two tee start and
Sunday a shotgun start, 9.30am assembly for 10am hit-off. Tee times for Saturday’s event will be online today.
Also coming up is the Spring Classic on September 12 and 13. Entry forms are available in the pro shop or on the club’s website.
Last Saturday we had a fourball best ball, won by Nick Metcalfe and Gary Brant with 46 points, from John Radeski and Graeme Rothwell 45, on countback to Rob Sobolewski and Daryl Nalder.
Last Thursday the ladies played American foursomes, won by Kerran Leetham and Ruth Peacock with 71.5, from Sarah Lugsdin and Shandra Simpson 74.6.
On Sunday we had the Keno 2-person ambrose. Winners with 67 were Andrew and Vicki Brunker, by two shots from Kerran Leetham and Jack Tonta on 69.
It was tough going in wintry conditions for Wednesday’s stableford event. A grade winner with 35 points was Wayne Hodgson on countback to Geoff Corboy. Dylan Monks had an exceptional 40 points to win B grade from Russell Begg on 36.
In the clubhouse, bingo has returned on Friday morning for any interested players.
The Friday night raffles continue, with tickets on sale from 6pm and draws starting at 7.30. Excellent, well-priced meals are also available.
