It was on to volleyball on Thursday night for the Rams’ Mixed Sporting Globe Competition, held at the Deni Sports Stadium.
The footballers have now played basketball, indoor cricket and dodgeball across the first six rounds.
Round 7 saw ladder leader Mac Attack flex its muscle once again, taking the grand final 15-10 over Holobowski’s Hoods.
All four sides played three preliminary matches, with the two sides with the most set wins advancing to the decider.
Jake McManus was the star of the grand final with strong play at the net, while Lachie MacDonald played a great skipper’s match.
For the Hoods, Rick Gittens was all class, Jack Hogan was nimble on the court and Nick Glowrey was ever-reliable.
The highlight of the night, however, was a serve from Mac Attack’s Matt MacDonald which went horribly wrong. After throwing the ball high in the air to serve, MacDonald had an air swing and the ball landed on his head.
In the lead-up matches, Will Shaw and Jack Sides in his first appearance for the year impressed for Tyn-Men, who finished third in the night.
Pitts’ Posse came in fourth with better players being Riley Draxl and Sam Willoughby.
Ladder: Mac Attack 24 points, Tyn-Men 17, Holobowski’s Hoods 16 (102%), Pitts’ Posse 16 (92%).
Awards this week went to Glowrey (Globe Hotel) and Jake Cavallaro (IGA $30 voucher).
This Thursday is the second leg of volleyball.
The Rams have also decided to extend their mixed sports season until mid-October, which means all sides are still in the hunt for championship glory.
