While no one was having fries with that, it was a great way for Finn Hughes and his friends to celebrate his 9th birthday last weekend.
Finn’s mum Cath said it was a way to lift his spirits while everyone kept to the social distancing guidelines.
“In lieu of his planned birthday party some of his mates and their families did a birthday party drive by,” she said.
“Horns were tooting, balloons, streamers and homemade posters hung from the cars, and shouts of ‘happy birthday Finn’ could be heard for a whole block.
“It was a touching celebration of mateship in these uncertain times. It was organised by Jenny Weeks, who’s son Levi is Finn’s buddy.
“We were all feeling very lucky on this day to have had so much love and happiness. It was definitely a birthday to remember.”
There were eight cars in the birthday convoy full of friends and a swag more on Facetime to help the St Mary’s student celebrate the occasion.
Cath said it was a great pick me up after the news that the basketball grand final was cancelled and the uncertainty around the local under 10 football competition.
