Lobby director to speak at dinner

By Southern Riverina News

Our ‘‘degendered society’’ and how ‘‘political correctness is destroying our freedoms’’ are among the topics for the 22nd annual Finley Regional Christian Men’s Fellowship dinner event next month.

Guest speaker and managing director of the Australian Christian Lobby Martyn Iles will address these topics in two seminars.

Mr Iles was formerly the founding director of the Human Rights Law Alliance, an organisation that protects religious freedom through legal advocacy.

The first seminar, to be held on Sunday, August 4 at 2pm, is called ‘Understanding the Agenda to Degender Society’, with all invited to attend.

Mr Iles said the meeting will address what gender fluid ideology is and ‘‘how degendering affects education’’.

The second is the men’s dinner on Monday, August 5 at 6.30pm called ‘How Political Correctness is Destroying our Freedoms’.

It will address five points including freedom of speech, freedom of association, freedom of conscience, freedom for parents and freedom from discrimination.

Event organiser John Everingham said the Finley Regional Christian Men’s Fellowship chose Mr Iles as the best to speak about what is topical right now and the talk across the nation.

‘‘As managing director of the ACL, Martin is in constant contact with the public via interviews, media and even lobbying politicians so he was the ideal choice for this event,’’ Mr Everingham said.

‘‘There are a lot of people who want to engage and have a conversation about these topics but are hesitant because they are concerned that if they speak out, they will be accused of being bigoted.

‘‘So, we thought this would be a good way to start this conversation on a local level. We have a wonderful opportunity to have Martin, a man in demand, to come and speak in person.’’

Mr Everingham added that the dinner event is only open to men.

‘‘We are not sexist. We are just hoping to encourage men to be involved in these conversations in regard to their fatherly and husbandly duties for a 22nd year,’’ Mr Everingham said.

The dinner costs $25 per person and RSVP’s must be returned by July 29. The venue for both meetings is at the Finley Apex Sports & Community Centre.
