Jerilderie’s Tania Roe attended the 2019 Murrumbidgee Local Health District Excellence Awards on Friday as a finalist for the collaboration award.
The activities coordinator at Jerilderie Health Service had been nominated by the Jerilderie Local Health Advisory Committee and the Hospital Auxiliary, recognising her activities with and for the aged-care residents of the facility. She has been improving the access to and range of activities for residents and contributed to the wellbeing and outcomes for them.
Mrs Roe was the only finalist from the local cluster and one of five finalists and said she felt like a ‘‘small fry’’ in a room full of ‘‘doctors, managers and other incredible people’’.
‘‘I am honoured and felt very humbled when I found out that my boss and others took the time to nominate me,’’ Mrs Roe said.
‘‘I was pleased to represent a hardworking staff and a small facility like ours. I am just the organiser who brings everyone together and I have only been in my position for 18 months.’’
Mrs Roe said she strives to connect with everybody on all different levels.
‘‘I just absolutely love my job; working in aged care is a real privilege.’’
The award winner was Dr Carmello Aquilina from Wagga.
